Many people don't realize that bikes are used year-round in Michigan as sustainable means of transportation. Bicycles are valuable items for our unhoused friends, they provide independence and opportunities.
We receive donations of gently used bikes and then our partner’s youth (Open Roads Bike Program) repair them. We work with local organizations to distribute them to unhoused individuals in need. To date, we have given away over 250 bikes! Each bike is equipped with a new bike lock and rechargeable front & rear bike lights.

Local nonprofits and faith based organizations are welcome to complete our bike form to request a bike for unhoused individuals they’re working with. This is a barrier free offer, with the only requirement being that the recipient is unhoused. (One per person per year.)
